I have a pink noise app on my phone (it's called ReSound...I like this app because it has many different relaxing sounds that you can blend together and it's calming). I have tinnitus and hyperacusis. The hyperacusis is getting worse and I'm trying to use pink noise for therapy, but does anybody know how many hours per day a person is supposed to listen to it? Also, will it work if blended with other sounds? I'm not able to tolerate it through earphones, will it work by just listening through the speaker? Any insight is appreciated! Does anybody else have a hard time tolerating pink noise?

I would not use the pink noise app in this way.  I would purchase the pink noise CD from this network and build up to using it for eight hours per day.  The pink noise on the CD covers a very wide frequency range, is much better made, and will be much more helpful to help manage hyperacusis than the app you are using.  I would also hire a clinician who has successfully treated hyperacusis and have a frequency-specific loudness discomfort level (LDL) test administered to determine the extent of decreased sound tolerance.  If you have a way to run the pink noise app through external speakers, you might consider using it at bedtime while you sleep with the volume set very low, since you find it relaxing and calming.

Thanks, Rob. I don't think I have a CD player...I saw that there is a flash drive as well. How many hours per day do you recommend listening to the CD? Thanks!

Tami,

A 6 page guideline comes with the network CD or flashdrive.
