Can someone seasoned please give me their input...? If I do things that make my ears react with fullness, popping, itching, ear cartilage discomfort, light facial numbness, etc - does this mean I'm risking making my H worse? These days something as simple as a low volume Zoom call for work can elicit the above reaction in my ears - or even watching a show on my MacBook at a low volume. I can deal with how the ears feel as it's more discomfort than pain - but just want to make sure I'm not effectively worsening myself.

Since my threshold to elicit these reactions is so low now, I worry that I'd have to be locked up in a quiet room without any contact or media to avoid these - which would be a huge blow to my mental health. It's frustrating because 1.5 months ago I could safely take calls, watch shows, go to the store etc. Why I keep declining is unclear to me as I haven't been around any "dangerous" or high levels of sound and I am continuing to expose my ears to normal sounds like the house, short walks, shower etc. etc.

I'm in month 3 of H since my relapse (H started Oct 2019).

When ears seem to be getting more and more sensitive it is upsetting.  The solution is not to avoid noise because hearing will only become more sensitive.  That is a fact.  Sometimes it can get to the point where you wonder what is my future going to be like living like this.  It is important for you to realize that your ears are not going to get worse with normal environmental noise.  Yes they may feel pain and/or fullness but they are not getting worse.  What your ears are doing is begging for a disciplined path forward to improve.  That path forward has been discussed over and over again on this message board.  Will the road have some very rough spots in it and will there be times you feel like sound therapy is making you worse? YES!  Any rehab we do with our body involves some pain and discomfort but sound therapy done the proper way works.

Hi SalFaz
How  are you?
I hope you are feeling a bit better?
I have  had screaming 24/7 80dB tinnitus  and Hyperacusuis  since December 2019   immediately after ear microsuction.
My 5 th ENT Specialist said there s no cure  for Tinnitus and Hyeracusis  and didn;t want  to wast my money and time on a false promise.
I think  with all the bad  thing s happening in the world with Covid19, we should all take a breath, and keep things as calm as possible for our mind s and let  this covid 19  go away ASAP. We have enough to get through any way, and with this disaster,  there s nothing we can do. We must keep our selves  together the best way we can.
We dlon;t want any new strange noises going into our ears and just  scrambling all the sounds that are there any  way.
At least with the Tinnitus, I know which is that noiuse  and not some $$$ sound  therapy machine and $$$ to a  so called professional who is just grasping at a fake cure and ripping us off.
Our Tinnitus and  hyperacusis  will  still be there  after this Covid19  goes  away.  and   we  all have  to get  through it to the other side.
We  should n;t have  to put ourselves  through any more torture  than we a re already going through.  Anything to distract our minds  for a few minutes  at a time   us a very good  thing.  Take  our minds  off our  minds.
The crazy idea s  these  people have  that they think will help us  is  just made.  Then they want  o pump us  with pills.....  Just plain mad.
Keep well  there  and let me know how you go SalFaz
