Hello everyone,

Anybody has any suggestion on what a good soundproofing material is to put in front of your window to block the noise coming from outside?

A construction company is building a condominium building right beside my apartment building and the noise is just unbearable. Even with the windows closed, I can still hear the noise coming from the outside. Thank you.

Do I know about construction. Well I don't know if you own your unit but if you do, having Milgard windows with a certain space apart from each window (double pane) helped us a lot. Also, we bought some removable "triple pane" type windows. We had a very very loud screaming woman next door who would get drunk a few feet away from our bedroom window. It didn't screen it all out but it helped. I also ran music and light instrumental to cover some of the noise and closed the drapes which are black-out drapes. Know that the construction will be temporary. I wish I could tell you where we got our triple pane but you slide it a few inches away from the second window on your double pane windows. It really really helps. Somebody left some type of an electrical thing going on that squeaked for 2 weeks during construction or something, I thought it was going to be permanent. I closed those 3rd windows and it never came in the bedroom. Then all of a sudden someone doing construction must have realized oops, some electrical thing is malfunctioning and it was gone.

Please help!!! I am a year into this hyperaccusis hell and need guidance. 2 months ago my old school fridge went out. So I bought a new one.

The sales people were clueless. I advised I had this and needed a very noise free fridge. They sold me one with 4 fans. It stopped making good ice in 3 weeks I returned it to buy a less fancy model, with one fan that was supposed to run intermittently. Now it's almost non stop. I called whirlpool and they wrote the complaint incorrect on the work order, so when the repair guy came here refused to come in the house because of " the likelihood of a bad intall from Sears"

So here I am with a vibration that's making the situation. Worse. I want to just use an ice chest at this point.

Any one have any luck with sound deadner material for the fridge?

I have many many more issues and appreciate any feedback. This has totally ruined my life and I am just struggling. I have not yet developed a copinf mechanism.

Since I got Hyperacusis, I am noticing more of an awareness level of construction and sound deafening things. I don't have any specific answers for you but try googling some of the challenges you are going through and perhaps there may be some resources that could help. I would do that if I were you. In fact, I did some years ago!

I hear you about this frig thing. I did a retreat once and stayed in a room next to the back of a frig, it drove me nuts as the retreat was a silent retreat place and there was no other noise going on.

So you have company here as I say. But try googling, I bet you will find some great solutions. Does Dan have a list of quiet frog's, I've seen such lists? The other thing is can you return your frig?
