The mystery behind of hyperacusis might be resolving in the future.

http://medicalxpress.com/news/2015-02-scientists-pain-sensors-ear-dangerously.html

I contacted Jaime García-Añoveros, PhD and other people at the Northwestern University and there is possibility to donate that research. I did that and I believe you should consider doing that also because that separate pain system might be behind of the H.

Here is the link for the donation.

Write to the box that your donation is to be directed to support Dr. Garcia-Anoveros.

I think that we should support them and of course the Hyperacusis research.

The research work is moving on at the Northwestern University. Last time I received a email from Dr. Jaime García-Añoveros, PhD he said that they are in the process of trying to secure funding for the next few years so our support to him is VERY important.

They are pursuing the studies until they can suggest appropriate therapies for treating hyperacusis.

Dr. Jaime García-Añoveros will also attend the 2016 Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO) meeting in San Diego.

The symposium will cover the recent discovery of a pain-like system in the cochlea, which mediates auditory nociception most likely via the cochlear type II afferents, and relate it to the pain sensation reported by hyperacusis patients.

You are welcome S_T_A_56 [smile] I think that everybody has the right to know about this major finding so that they are able to support this research as it moves forward.
