Can you be hyperacusic in one ear?  Or can it be worse in one ear than the other?   I seem to be more sensitive in my right ear.  It's the one I reach for first to protect and the one that feels the fullest.  Have to keep yawning to equalize the pressure.

My pre H hearing tests showed loss of high frequency hearing in my left ear.  My right ear was "perfect" on the hearing tests...and it seems to be the one suffering the most from H.  The screaming T is in both but seems to hurt the right the most.

Just wondered.

Hi Deb,
Yes, I am definitely more hyperacusic in my right ear.  That's also the ear I have had problems with my tensor tympani muscle contracting in response to just anticipating sound.

Thanks for the info, Marilyn.  I've noticed some "ticking" sounds periodically in my right ear and have wondered if it wasn't the tensor tympani muscle.  Lately I've been taking cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) at night to help me sleep.  It actually does seem to help.  I figured..hey it's a muscle..why not try it.   Between sudafed and flexeril it seems to alleviate some of the pressure issues.

There's so many little oddball things that seem to go along with H & T... I just needed some reassurance that I wasn't nuts.  Well maybe I am...but...
