So an abusive boyfriend hit me when I was 17, perforating my left eardrum. About 5 years l8r, I suddenly developed tinnitus n hyperacusis. Before that, my ear seemed fine after the eardrum healed. I have problems with both ears now. I had mercury fillings I just had removed, but the problem persists. Sometimes I get some relief, but never completely. I had the most relief from benzodiazepine medication n um, alcohol... n I really don't want to be doing either. I have seen many eardrops around, with little success. What do people do that really gets rid of this problem? I think those items worked because they relax overactive inner ear muscles or something. During a hearing exam, a noise played violently caused an inner ear muscle to contract, like for a while it seemed messed with after that. Maybe the tensor tympani problem written about on the main site. The problem is something I have to deal with everyday, for years, n it's really lame. Also, when my eyes water, water wells up in my ear canals. I've used benzocaine eardrops before n fluid leaked from my other ear. Each time I used them. Like it could be a fascinating trick or something, giving the illusion that liquid went thru my head. (Not being serious) I avoid putting liquids in my ears now. Also, I've had my ears irrigated twice, that didn't help. Any advice?
