Obviously it does a lot more than hurt the ears. What kinda symptoms do you get from it? Has anyone died from it that you've heard of? Sometimes I feel like sounds are so loud they could kill me, because the effect the rest of my body. N I already have other health problems, so the symptoms from hyperacusis tearing my ears up makes things worse. Things are pretty noisy though, I'm sure you agree, with all the manmade sounds, like motorcycles, buses, trucks, etc. I was reading that 1 in 10 in the uk have tinnitus, wonder if it's from the loud world around us. Someone was mentioning earlier a tape being torn from a taperoll made their ears feel like they're being torn right along with the tape. Was thinking, i can totally identify with that. Like the noise of the bus engine goes straight thru my entire head. N yeah, some noises are also like my ears get pulled along with it, the inner ear muscles pulling n contracting painfully with it. Like some sounds,my ears will contract with the entire sound length. So if its a long noise that's a certain tone, whatever muscle contracts (tympani tensor maybe?) Will contract the entire time. Seems i'd stay reclusive in my rm all day n choose to avoid every noise but I'm not misophonic (noise phobic, whatever its called). I have had severe, severe hyperacusis since late 2006 n try to adapt as much as possible. Because I really don't want to give my life over to stupid ilnesses, yanno. So i try to put up with loud noises, still ride the bus nearly everyday, despite how it goes straight thru my brain feels like, but prefer to listen to music because it deflects some soundwaves n makes it easier to deal with somewhat. What I don't understand though is how I have to turn it up some on the bus, to block the bus noise. N then when I get off the bus, the music is too loud. Somehow it has somewhat blocked bus noise waves though? Anywayz it was a lot worse for yrs n the sound sensitivity kept me sick in bed a lot. Ne1 feel like the force of sound is really heavy pressure?

Sadly, I have developed many kinds of health problems due H. I was perfectly healthy before it. It probably is the stress caused by H that causes the other problems in the health. But at least I can do something to the other health problems[smile]

I got a lot worse of health just all the sudden also with it.

Whenever I sneeze, it feels like my ear canals have been ripped. I also can't blow my nose. I have to clean it manually, or my ear canals feel inflamed severely.but no drs ever find inflammation, except when I used to wear earplugs of the wrong kind too much.

Hi, about your question about listening to music on the bus versus listening in quieter situations. How strongly you respond to a sound is relative you ambient noise level around your. This is perfectly normal I'm the same way about that.

I can relate to a lot of your symptoms and it's not damage, and no normal everyday sound levels won't kill you! Far from it. I just scanned your post ... Are you seeking professional help? TRT help?
