Hi all: I'm back to visit and say hello, an oldie but newbie who went through TRT and suffered beforehand for ten years at least before I did. I spoke with Dan Malcore yesterday as an acquaintance is suffering horribly; he suggested I come on and say hello.

It's good to see some names I recognize and I have certainly been thinking of you. The TRT work I did several years ago "took" and "held" and it has been so nice not thinking about it. I went to the University of Maryland's Tinnitis Center when Susan Gold was there, then transferred my care to finish it up here in our state. I will never forget the day the Clinician said "you've graduated"!

I should have done it before and in the whole scheme of things, that traveling at the time was uneventful, I was able to have all my appointments in one day and fly back. I was expecting whatever results and outcome I could get. Instead, I'd say I healed much more than the 85% that most people were talking about then.

I have no idea if TRT is the gold standard now, and where people are going for it but the American Tinnitus Association sent me a list of state-by-state TRT Practitioiners. I called each of them up and had talks with each. Since I was looking at only Jastreboff trained places and experienced at that, it did narrow it down to two in my state. So glad I did that. The hearing generators were great, the cognitive behavioral therapy has "stuck" ("It is what it is", that's my mantra!), and listening to increased volume non verbal music every day for months was a joy. I could see a measurable improvement as time went on.

About the time my TRT was finished, I found all of the above was getting annoying and it was great taking the generators out and not having to worry about it. I don't remember being scared about the success rate after all that work. I just knew that I had done what I had to do and it was done. I think of all of you so often and thank you so much for being there. If not for Dan Malcore and all of you and special Angels who traveled my path with me during those tough years, I would have had a very difficult time.

You are in good company. God bless you!

Hello Rob! I wrote Dan and he suggested I come and say hi to everyone. I know you've been such a help to me over the years. I will never forget it. How are you doing?
Jane

so glad that you are doing better. I had a bad time with tinnitus but I would say i am 97% habituated. I sleep with zero sound generators. My brain just blocks out the tinnitus..its amazing. however under stress it intrudes. my only problem is hyperacusis...(slight)
