Hello there, your not alone on this problem.  Although I haven't had a doctor fully diagnose my problem yet but I feel I do suffer from Fibromyalgia.  Evey morning I drag myself out of bed in pain just about everywhere.  My limbs are like sore I'm so tired and like I haven't slept all night even though I know I have.  I'm constantly tired and yawning even though I had plenty of sleep.  My body is just weak not like I used to be, a few years ago I was much stronger I guess more robust?  The noise from certain devices ie. Radios bother me even if it's a slight sound coming from them from a distance and rumbling noises.  I'm so stressed it basically ruins my day and this happens day in and day out, not sure how much more I can take of this.

Hello There Too, ((( Smiles )))

Fibromyalgia is an autoimmune disorder..
Alot of medical conditions can go with hyperacusis & sound intolerance.
And autoimmune disorders has risen from 2-3 per 100,000 in 1980 to 25 in 100,000 today and there may be even more then that out there..
People that don't know they have it and it is causeing problems for them.
Symptoms..
It is known that over 100 medications can cause autoimminue disease plus immunizations as well as listed in the PDR..
Not only do I believe that autism is an autoimmune disorder I believe it was caused by the immunizations..
I have done alot of looking into this subject as well and connecting the dots.
We have heard alot about mercury and autoimmune disease which a term thats called "alphabet soup" is a good description of this I believe so myself..
And we all know that autistic children have many forms of abnormal sound sensitivity problems and then I connect the dots like so many others have over the years..
And the pink disease children/adults had incidents of autoimmune problems as well..
And the owner of the pink disease site that came down with pink disease said her brother did not get pink disease but came down with an autoimmune disorder instead..
Both exposed to that teething powder/mercury.
Thats why as one that went through a horrible cause of hyperacusis at one time that has improved through a desensitization therapy plan plus..
I did other things at the same time myself too..
Like a diet, as I lost lots of weight like lots of people with severe hyperacusis do went down to 90 pounds at one time and probably dropped below that..
Which one could call a detox/clean out and changed my diet..
plus took supplements like so many people with H have done in their desperation in the past..
Even seeing alternative providers..
But even though, whatever has made one vunerable in the first place to H & in just in haveing the disorder..
Means one was vunerable to it in the first place..
Where does that vunerability exist as there had to be one..
as why someone else in the same sound situation and even in a louder more risky situations, may never ever come down with H??
Maybe hearing loss..
Or monks or thoses who live in Monasteries..
I can just go on and on with the whys and the observations and of course that just leads me to thinking out of the box..
I do want them out...

I'm starting to think more and more that hyperacusis and abnormal sound sensitivites may very well have some link to autoimmune disorders and the more I read on it the more I believe there is something to that..

I was reading this post today and what a story..

I guess the thing that sticks in my mind the most is small noises sounding incredibly loud and plastic bags being handled would drive me crazy..
Even walking along the beach, the water lapping at the shore would actually scare me through the volume I would hear it at...
I really thought I was going crazy daily.

I don't think this is wild speculation as there is just too much out there on this to reject it right off..
Not saying you do though..  (((( Smiles ))))

Hello GaryD,

the first thought I had after reading your post is that you should get the right diagnosis..Go to a rheumatologist to check for autoimmune disease..Also you could see if you have cfs, sleep apnea or some kind of infection..

About hyperacusis..God,radios,tv and computers..it feels like the sound gets into my head!Especially some specific frequencies..

Its very annoying but we cant let it make us miserable right? How do you deal with it?
