hello if i pitch my nose close my mouth and blow air into my ears the burning sensation seems to go.. my thinking is this could hyperacusis be caused from a inward ear drum i.e. most ear infections have hearing loss as a symptom because there is fluid in the ear because of eustation tube dysfunction the fluid can escape  and builds a pressure and this forces the ear drum out thus creating hearing loss.
so could our ear drum be slightly curved in? so every sound that hits it will appear louder as it will make the ear bones vibrate more as the eardrum is closer to them? .. or is this theory just silly?
i have popped my ears and i am trying not to swallow as this normalizes my ear pressure and brings the burning sensation back

I think you are on to a "band aid" fix for a particular problem, but not the whole picture.
I think H is more of a neuronal-brain pathway thing, which depends upon the middle ear.  I believe the rest of the ear my be ancillary in nature.

Of course the eardrum and pressures can exacerabate conditions.  If you can dampen those conditions, my hat is off to you.

Good Job!

These are just my opinions based just on the little I have picked up and what I believe.  I have no references to back this up.

haha stormy your probably right i didn't really think that blowing air into my ears would be the cure or that no one else has tried this... im just sure that my problem must be physical aswell as mental as when i do stretches and yoga or have  a hot bath it seems so much better but when i sit hunched or do some jogging it is alot worse.
it just feels a little bit better and everything seems less harsh i mean like the tv (still on low mind) almost seems pleasant and agreeable to my ears.. i was just wondering if anyone else has had this relief?

Alan,

Sorry to tell you, But whats you mentioned is NOT causing your hyperacusis.
Its either inner ear or auditory nerve... Period

its ok i find of figured it wasn't as simple as what i was saying .. i was just wondering if anyone else was able to get what seems to be a little bit of rest bite, and could it be that the air im pupping into in the ear is making a little bit of hearing loss and thus making me think the hyperacusis is getting better?

what you described sounds like treatment for eustachian tube dysfunction. that was what i was told to do for this etd.  pre H.   i had a lot of sinus, allergy probs that involved eus.t. and ears.   certainly  any of those conditions could exacerbate the H.  but no,  i agree with the above posts. and i have not tried doing that actually i dont think anyway since i dev. h.

see i thought i had ETD and i have read in "coping with tinnitus book" etd is common with rapid weight lose, and i lost half a stone in 6 weeks training for a marathon then another stone from getting tinnitus. the ent said my eustation tune is in normal limits but the way they paused and ummed and arghed made me think that it must be barely in range by a tiny amount
