I was just deleting some word documents and found this.  And a while ago we also talked about that Magnesium Calm product, and I really have an awful time taking that, except if I take it first thing in the morning, it's like my body has been craving for it almost the same way your body craves citrus.
I even left a bit with my 2nd cup mixed in with my Tea and I didn't have any problems, in fact I'am craving for more again!

BrainTalk Communities - Ear fluttering, fullness and sensitivity
I am not even pursuing this with my doctors because I know it will go nowhere. Exercise helps...not so much with the actual noise and fluttering but with ...
http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-34753.html

I went to the Dr and they said I had Meniere's, since then have learned that if I took vitamin C 6000 mg. and one tablet of potassium first thing in the morning, my ear pressure would start to lift. that only helped as long as I persistently took it each day, if I missed a day it was back.

I then started taking magnesium and calcium regularly, which eliminated the vertigo and mind racing, and extreme cold, since then I have learned that women entering into perimenopause, develope these symptoms because of the decreasing estrogen and progesterone in their bodies, which affect the absorption of these minerals. As the estrogen and progesterone continue to drop the harder it becomes for the body to use these minerals and absorb them so it sets up a chain reaction in the body, I use to take 500 mg magnesium and 1000mg calcium. I recently started having internal shaking, and a small seizure, the doctors have found that I am still low on magnesium so I now take 1000 mg. Most doctors are not trained in nutrition so are more inclined to offer a drug as a solution which really only treats the effect rather then the cause.

Leah,

Please let me know which brand of calcium you are taking and find useful.  I am having a terrible time finding the "right" calcium, and because I have scoliosis my bones need it - I can't just take magnesium alone.  When I do, my muscles literally collapse (magnesium is a muscle relaxer) and my hip goes out, and that sets off a chain reaction and my whole back goes out!

So what you are doing now is:  you take the Magesium Calm supplement and add a separate calcium supplement to the magesium?  Or do you take a combination Calcium/Magesium all-in-one product?

I could really use some help on this.  I've been taking Life Extension Bone Support, and it is a very good combination supplement.  But the ratio of Calcium to Magnesium is 4 to 1 (too low on Mg) and there is a large amount of Boron and Vitamin D in the supplement, which I am not 100% comfortable with.

Thanks for any help.

All the best,

Bonnie

Bonnie, I don't do much research anymore because I don't use the computer much anymore.

I just take the Mg Calm, I didn't even know there were other types when I first read about it and seen the products,.........but I wouldn't doubt it if in the future the next "Country Times", and "Starbucks", will be were you get a hot drink of Mg, or Calcium and Mg, or Lipoprotein shakes/cakes and Protein/Mineral Smoothies as energizers instead of coffee.....

Have you  ever gone into the WestonPrice Foundation and searched about that?

Hi Leah...

I have never heard of the WestonPrice Foundation.  What type of organization is it - do they do research or do they provide education for the public?  Is that a holistic organization here in the States or in Toronto?

If they have an internet site, you bet I will go there and look around, and if there's someone I can e-mail I will do it.  This calcium/magnesium balancing act is a very big issue for me, and I envy anyone who can take magnesium alone.  FYI, I have definitely seen an improvement in my sound tolerance with magnesium, I just wish I could take it without having to search for a calcium I can tolerate (citrates are very harsh on my stomach and skin, although I know they are most easily absorbed).

Thanks so much for the tip on Weston Price; I'll google it..!

All the best,

Bonnie

They have Weston Price Organizations all over the world, but apparently the people of societies around the world who never take calcium or drink milk seem to be a lot healthier than North Americans.

Watching TV tonight, I flipped on a channel about a book written by "Kevin Trudeau", who talks to everybody he can about how the Food Industry doesn't want people to know how to lose wieght, (sp?), and about carbs, etc...

I'll be buying the Mg. Calcium Calm today, or tomorrow maybe there's others, I don't know yet, but I hope it tastes different.

I know you eat really great, as you've mentioned before but I'am sure you realize how some bodies can't digest certain oils, (possible cause of MS) and carbs, etc.....which I am sure does affects the ears if everything does.

But your a great researcher, so beam in the honing skills.

Bye now!!

Re the reference to Kevin Trudeau. It pains me to see him being referred to like he's a reputable source or to see his book on alternative medicine on the best seller list or to see ads for it with no information about his past history of doing time for fraud. Just want to add a "buyer beware" on this person to this site and suggest people do a websearch on him before buying his book or taking him seriously.

Well anybody who strongly believes doctors are the only sources of the right information will say this, but remember doctors invented vibrators for hysteria, and recommended adults in the 50's to take a puff of a cigarette between every course to help with digestion.  In the15th century doctor's had to have schoolary knowledge about astronomy, and white magic before they could practice.!

And what do you think about everybody with Chemical Sensitivies or hyperacusis having and being only diagnosed as a mental illness, when the medical schools are full of journals and textbooks about Toxins and nerve chemical dangers, and noise sensitivity is a basic of physics?
Medicine is regulated by the biggest corporations of our time, the Pharmas, Media, and Food Adm, all are corporations aiming for the big profits, and their method is advertising and marketing, but it's the people who pay taxes, not the corporations so much!  And the internet is changing the lives of people through information just as much as books did when print came out, and people do have rights to be informed and not regulated by presidents, kings, etc.....because we pay their livilihoods.
Remember that!

Drugs which they are trained to know about aren't the cure all and end all, and have enourmous side-effects, some of us just got hyperacusis from a flu-shot or migraines from SSRI's, and have you looked at the amount of lawyers and lobbyists drug companies are hiring from all the civil lawsuits?  More than R&D.

In the book "What Your Doctor Won't Tell You" written by Jane Heimlich on page 228-229 it says:

Dr. Karl Folkers, director of the Institute for Biomedical Research at he U. of Texas in Austin, reported in the med-70's that people with CTS, have a severe deficinecy of vitamin B6.  In over ten years of reserach, Folkers has demonstrated in scientific studies that people with CTS will recover in three months or less if given daily supplements of vitamin B6, dosage of 25-100 mg, daily depending of the patients age and body weight.

Are you aware of how many people suffer without being able to use their hands and arm for years and nobody tells them this?

Are you aware of how many doctor's and scientific studies go into all these holistic theories?  Are you aware that Naturopaths also work for the Gov't?

Are you aware that there is evil and good is all things?  There are bad doctors who rape too, some take out the wrong organs!!!!!!!

Hi Leah,

I wasn't knocking alternative medicine or promoting conventional medicine. I have plenty of skepticism about both and think they both have something to offer but that you have to be careful.

My criticism was specifically and exclusively of Kevin Trudeau because he has no credentials, a criminal past and a terrible reputation. Not that any of that has stopped him from having a best selling book, unfortunately. He is a successful salesman.

Again, I'd just suggest doing a websearch and learning more about him before accepting him as a reliable source on alternative medicine.

Please explain further why you don't like Kevin Trudeau?

Would you dislike Jane Heimlich Too?

What about the actor of Disney Movies who had a hit show who was in prision for selling Marijuana when he was a teenager, gosh he was in Hollywood?  (Some comedican, forget his name)

The point is some people can change, but most point fingers non-stop, so obviously what happens??

Howard Stern for example, I just heard Canada isn't allowing him to have any radio via satelitte in our country because he said the word "Penis",
but we're able to watch pornography on Cable TV.  Everywhere you look SEX is the major advertising tool, and condoms are largely advertised everywhere!!!

Liquor and Tobacco are legel, yet they kill so many people!  In Muslim countries Liquor is outlawed, but hash is okay and the opposite in North America!  So tell me who is miffed up?  Us or our gov't!
propaganda is everyday, take a course in political history!  It still goes on!

By the way, most of the biggest criminals are politicians, protected by diplomatic immunity!!

The Medical System is a monopoly that drags and destructs anybody who wants to help people be healthier, because they will lose money and profits, they will lose customers and people will start being heathier!
If you just believe them without being aware of ALL the amazing doctors who have been killed and destroyed for helping humanity, then you need to pick up some of the most recent books written by retired CEO's of medical journals, for one and do some reading.

The human body is half electrical and half chemical, yet the medical system only deals with the chemical half, while yoga, qigong deals with the electrical.  Scientists, Doctors, Philosphers everywhere (and civilians) are aware that the East has to meet the West for holistical and surviving medicine to go further.

Two machines that are incredibly unique but dissed by the Medical System are the Rife Machines and the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber.
They have books on the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber at every Library, and it's utterly shocking what you will read.

Here is one item cut and pasted from a google search of "Kevin Trudeau":

This page is on the Web site of Quackwatch, not the FTC.

For Release: January 13, 1998

Infomercial Marketers Settle Various Charges:

Ad Claims For "Hair Farming," "Mega Memory System," "Addiction Breaking System,"
"Action Reading," "Eden's Secret," and "Mega Reading" Were Deceptive

Eight marketers of self-help and health-related products promoted in radio and television infomercials have agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that ad claims for their products were false or unsubstantiated. The defendants will pay a total of $1.1M to settle the charges and one defendant will be required to establish a $500,000 escrow account, which will be used to repay consumers should he commit similar law violations in the future. A ninth defendant faces trial on FTC charges in federal district court.

Kevin Trudeau developed and hosted radio and TV infomercials for a range of products in conjunction with two infomercial production companies, Mega Systems, Inc. and Tru-Vantage, L.L.C. Many of the infomercials had names such as, "A Closer Look," and were formatted to appear to be commercial radio and TV interview programs or talk shows, not the advertisements they actually were. Five respondents, including Trudeau himself, invented or manufactured the products or services that were featured in the infomercials and appeared in the infomercials promoting them.

"Eden's Secret Nature's Purifying Product," claimed to clean and purify the body of toxic waste matters and to "purify" the body's blood supply. The infomercial said ". . . the pH balance of the blood's better, the microflora of the colon's better, you're simply enhancing the overall integrity of your body," and claimed the product could cure PMS and other illnesses and cause significant weight loss. In fact, the claims of benefits were false, according to the FTC.
"Doctor Callahan's Addiction Breaking System," promised to cure addictions, including the compulsive desire to eat, use alcohol, cocaine, heroin or tobacco. The infomercials also claimed that the system could lead to significant weight loss without the need to diet or exercise. "We're going to be sharing Dr. Callahan's revolutionary breakthrough that he had discovered while studying quantum physics," the infomercial said. "Dr. Callahan came up with the breakthrough that in 60 seconds can eliminate your addictive urge to overeat, to smoke cigarettes, to do any compulsion, any type of addicted behavior, whether it be alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, food . . . Now this technique will take 60 seconds to apply and works virtually 100 percent of the time." In fact, the video tape sold in the infomercial showed Dr. Callahan demonstrating his "revolutionary addiction breaking system"-- a series of gestures, including tapping his face, chest and hand; rolling his eyes; and humming, which, if mimicked, were the supposed addiction cure. The claims were false, the FTC alleged.
An infomercial for Kevin Trudeau's Mega Memory System claimed that scientific studies of his system showed that it could help anyone achieve a photographic memory, even people with learning disabilities or low IQ's. "Kevin Trudeau's breakthrough techniques were developed while working with blind and mentally handicapped students," the infomercial said. "Their recall ability increased from 15% to 90% in just 5 days," it said, and stated that the techniques were ". . . guaranteed to work for you." In fact, the FTC alleges, the memory system would not enable users to achieve a photographic memory, and the advertising claims were false.
Another infomercial touting a reading program promised that anyone who could "see, hear and talk can learn to read, guaranteed." Jeanie Eller's infomercial claimed that, "her product was successful in teaching reading 100% of the time." In fact, according to the FTC complaint, she had no reasonable basis to substantiate the claim that the program is successful 100 percent of the time.
Defendant Jacqueline Sabal, also known as Jacqueline Sable, is the promoter of the "Sable Hair Farming System." In a complaint filed in federal district court, the FTC alleged that Sabal's infomercial falsely claims that her "hair farming" method will prevent, reduce or reverse hair loss, and is superior to Rogaine and Minoxidil. In her infomercial, Sabal said, "I should be in most of the major medical journals in the world in the next few months, which will finally end baldness in the human race." The FTC also alleged that Sabal falsely claimed that scientific studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the system.
Mega Systems International, Inc., and its principal, Jeffrey Salberg, produced the Eden's Secret; Dr. Callahan's Addiction Breaking System; Mega Memory System; Jeanie Eller; and Sable Hair Farming System infomercials. The FTC alleged that through the formatting of those infomercials, Mega Systems; Salberg; and Trudeau deceptively represented that the commercials were independent television and radio programs, not paid commercial advertising.

A sixth infomercial, "Howard Berg's Mega Reading," produced by Trudeau and Tru-Vantage International, L.L.C., claimed that the home study program could improve anyone's reading speed and comprehension by as much as ten times. Berg claimed, "I have a letter here from a girl who has brain damage. . . . Brain damage. She was in a car accident and half her brain stopped functioning. It was electrically dead." Berg went on to claim that after using his system for a brief time (on a coffee break) the brain-damaged consumer's reading speed increased from three to 600 words per minute. According to the FTC, Berg had no basis for claiming that his program could teach anyone, including adults; children; and disabled individuals, to significantly increase their reading speed while substantially comprehending and retaining the material, and the claim is false.
The Settlements:

To settle the FTC charges, Kevin Trudeau, who developed and appeared in all the infomercials, including the one for his "Mega Memory System," will pay $500,000 in consumer redress and will be barred from making false claims for the products in the future. Trudeau will be required to establish a $500,000 escrow account or performance bond to assure compliance. Infomercial producer Mega Systems International, Inc., and its principal, Jeffrey Salberg, also will pay $500,000 for consumer redress. Kenneth Wright, inventor and promoter of "Eden's Secret Nature's Purifying Product," and Roger J. Callahan, promoter of the "addiction breaking system" will each pay $50,000 in consumer redress.

Trudeau, Mega Systems, Salberg, Wright, Callahan, Eller, Berg, and Tru-Vantage will be barred from making the alleged deceptive claims relating to their products in the future. In addition, Trudeau, Salberg, and Mega Systems will be required to have substantiation, which, when appropriate, must be scientific, for claims about the benefits, performance or efficacy of any product or program they advertise; promote; sell; or distribute in the future. They also will be barred from misrepresenting the existence, contents, validity, results, conclusions or interpretations of any test, study or research. Wright, Callahan, Berg, and Tru-Vantage will be required to have substantiation, which, when appropriate, must be scientific, for claims about the benefits, performance or efficacy of any product or program like those they allegedly deceptively promoted.

In addition, both Trudeau, Mega Systems, and Salberg will be required to disclose "THE PROGRAM YOU ARE WATCHING IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT FOR [THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE]" in television ads that are at least 15 minutes long, and to disclose the same audio message in radio ads that are at least five minutes long.

All the settlement agreements contain recordkeeping and reporting provisions to allow the Commission to monitor compliance.

The Commission votes to accept the proposed consent agreements and to file the complaint were 4-0, with Commissioner Mozelle W. Thompson not participating.

Note: Consent agreements are for settlement purposes only and do not constitute admissions of law violations. When the Commission issues a consent order on a final basis, it carries the force of law with respect to future actions. Each violation of such an order may result in a civil penalty of $11,000.

The complaint against Jacqueline Sable was not settled and will be tried in federal district court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.

Note: The Commission files a complaint when it has "reason to believe" that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. The complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendant has actually violated the law. The case will be decided by the court.

Copies of the complaint and consent agreements [Trudeau] [Salberg] are available on the Internet at the FTC's Web site or by calling 202-326-3627. Copies also are available from the FTC's Consumer Response Center, Room 130, 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580; 202-326-3128; TTY for the hearing impaired 202-326-2502.

Well you can't believe everything Quackwatch says, or that the FTC says either!!!  What they do is make doctor's lives miserable, many doctors are terrified of the medical system and their power and control.
